Quest Vitality (a New Zealand owned company) has formulated ThyroVital, a comprehensive supplement to help promote healthy thyroid and adrenal function.
Healthy metabolic activity depends on many factors, most importantly healthy thyroid function. Low thyroid function slows the body's basal metabolic rate (BMR) and may be an underlying cause of lethargy, weight gain, depression, infertility, hypothyroidism and many other symptoms.
Insufficient thyroid function is rarely just a simple iodine deficiency. Adrenal stress and fatigue can greatly influence thyroid function, nutrient deficiencies and toxicity can effect the production of thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Optimal production of thyroid hormones can be supported by supplementing with a combination of tyrosine and withania, which have both been shown to improve production of thyroid hormones, as well as improve adrenal function and relieve stress.
Other important factors such as selenium, iodine, zinc, copper and vitamin c are vital for healthy thyroid hormone production, boosting the metabolism and ensuring these metabolic pathways function correctly. Tyrosine is also a pre cursor to the neuro-transmitters dopamine and nor adrenaline. These substances are important for energy and feelings of well being and motivation. When excess cortisol (a stress hormone) is combined with poor thyroid function, it is a recipe for weight gain. By reducing the detrimental effect of excessive stress hormones, improving thyroid function and metabolic activity, energy levels are restored and weight loss comes more easily.
