Natures Way 5-HTP is extracted from the seeds of the African plant. Griffonia simplicifolia. 5-HTP is the immediate metabolite between the amino acid L-tryptophan and Serotonin. Serotonin produces an inhibitory effect on the nervous system that soothes, calms and creates a feeling of contentment. The brain chemical Serotonin has been known to researchers for nearly half a century and new research continues to demonstrate how it influences mood and emotion. Serotonin deficiency has been implicated in depression, anxiety, panic, migraines, appetite problems and PMS.
Amino acid for the brain. It raises serotonin levels in the brain. Is used for depression (bipolar/unipolar), heart disease, insomnia, obesity, to help balance mood (specifically in bipolar behaviour), help unclutter the head of racing thoughts at night so you can get to sleep easier, help reduce aggression, reduce appetite, increase beta-endorphin release, create a more relaxed waking state, increased pain threshold, may reduce severity of Parkinsons disease symptoms, may reduce severity of migraine headache symptoms.
Each 1 tablet contains: 5 HTP (l-5-hydroxytryotophan) 50mg, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 60mg, Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCl) 10mg. Tablets are enteric coated to minimise any potential gastric discomfort. Other ingredients: Cellulose, maltodextrin, modified cellulose gum, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, aqueous coating solution (Modified cellulose, sodium alginate, fractionated coconut oil)
Take one or two Capsules daily, preferably at bedtime. Do not exceed this dosage without professional advice.
It is best to start with a low dosage of just 1 tablet (50mg) taken daily with a meal. Increase the dose slowly (every 3-5 days) up to a maximum of four tablets taken daily (200mg)
Total daily intake should be divided into two or more doses, with no more than 2 tablets per dose.
Keep out of reach of children. This product should not be consumed by children under the age of 12 years or by pregnant or lactating women. Do not take with drugs that contain Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) or drugs containing Fenfluramine. If you are currently taking any medication, please consult your health care professional prior to use. May cause drowsiness. Do not use while driving or operating heavy equipment. Those suffering from gut disorders such as ulcers, irritable bowel disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or celiac disease etc should not use 5HTP.
