Red Raspberry Leaf
Red Raspberry Leaves have an astringent effect. They are commonly used to overcome nausea and to ease and improve labour. Red Raspberry leaves also possess an agent that can help prevent bleeding after delivery. The added advantage of taking Red Raspberry in Capsule or tea form for nausea in the first trimester of pregnancy is that it expels excess water, acting as a mild diuretic.
It is found mainly in herbal female combinations. It strengthens the wall of the uterus and the entire reproductive system. It can help decrease profuse menstrual flow.
Is good during all months of pregnancy (check with your GP or midwife BEFORE using this herb during pregnancy), but is now, usually recommended only in the last trimester.
Tones and regulates before, during and after childbirth. Taking this herb increases and enriches milk for lactation and can be combined with marshmallow tea. It is good for stomach aches and bowel problems in children. It is soothing to the stomach and bowels and cankerous conditions of mucous membranes in the alimentary canal. It is a good source of vitamins and minerals.
Red Raspberry Leaf has a variety of uses from labour aid, taken in the last trimester of pregnancy, to a postpartum tonic: for reducing vaginal discharge, heavy periods and period pain and as an astringent to effectively ease diarrhoea.
Red raspberry Capsules may also be opened and made into a tea/gargle for helping relieve mouth problems such as mouth ulcers, bleeding gums and inflammations. As a gargle it may assist in reducing sore throats.
Each vegetarian Capsule contains 450mg of Red Raspberry Leaves. Other ingredients: Plant derived Capsule (modified cellulose), silica, magnesium stearate.
Recommendations: Take 2 Capsules daily, preferably with food.
Keep out of reach of children. As with all herbs, care should be taken during pregnancy. Consult with your GP or midwife BEFORE using this herb during pregnancy as it is not recommended in the first trimester. Not recommended for anyone suffering constipation due to its astringency.
