Lotus Brewers Yeast. An excellent alternative protein source to meat. Brewers Yeast can be taken with milk, fruit or vegetable juices, sprinkled over breakfast cereals or used in cooking for extra flavour. A recipe suggestion using Lotus Brewers Yeast. Potato Corn Cakes:
4 medium potato
1 large onion
2 beaten eggs
1 tbls brewers yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tbls whole wheat flour
1 cup skim milk powder
2 cups corn kernels (frozen, fresh or canned)
Cooking method:
Grate potato and onions. Stir in eggs, brewers yeast, salt and flour. Add milk powder carefully and lastly corn. Shallow fry in hot oil until well browned on both sides.
Tuna Mornay Croquettes
1 can tuna
2 eggs
1/2 cup Lotus Organic Quick Oats
1 grated onion and or carrot
1 tsp dry parsley
2 tbls Lotus Brewers Yeast
1/4 cup grated cheese
Cooking method: Combine all ingredients. Spoon large ball shapes onto baking paper lined sheets and bake on high for 20-30 minutes or until hot through.
Serve with a big green salad or vegetable crudites
To make Vegan, Omit cheese and use 2 tbls Lotus Chia seeds in place of eggs. Lotus Brewers yeast is great added to soups and stews or mashed potatoes, for a B Vitamin Hit!
