Easy to use Urinalysis Ketone Strips. Simply dip and read, and get results within seconds.
Perfect for those on low carb diets, Keto or ketotonic diets, those losing weight or building muscle, or simply of you are dieting for a better lifestyle.
ZestKeto Ketone Strips are an intuitive visual product which monitors content of ketone bodies released into urine after fat burning. They take a reading of the acetone units in the urine.
Manufactured in quality controlled factories, ZestKeto strips can be relied on for accurate readings every time.
Each bottle contains 100 sensitive reagent strips for urinalysis to quickly and painlessly get precise ketone level results. The indicator colours are easy to read and make it simple for you to monitor your Ketone levels yourself, in your own home.
Normal non-ketone-containing urine is negative, ie, the test result shows a minus sign (-); if the urine has a fat metabolite, or fatty ketone, the Ketostix color will gradually turn purple. The deeper the color of the indicator, the higher the content of ketones in the urine.
What are Ketones?
Ketone bodies are by-products of the body breaking down fat reserves, when inadequate liver stores of glycogen are present. As these are toxic in large amounts to tissues, the body excretes ketones through the urine. Because of the toxic nature of extended ketosis (releasing large amounts of ketones over an extended period of time), levels of excreted ketones must be monitored daily.
When a fat loss diet is being followed correctly the ketone levels should register in the 'trace to small' range on the Ketostix colour scale. By staying within this range or, 'in the pink', one is able to visibly monitor the by-products from burning fat, which is a great motivational factor for fat loss.
100 Test Strips. Suitable for self testing.
Note: DO NOT keep Ketone Strips in your bathroom or in the refrigerator. Ensure you replace the lid immediately after opening. Failure to do so will enable moisture to damage the strips, making them unusable. We will NOT replace Keto strips affected by moisture.
Do not remove desiccant from bottle. Use within 6 months of opening.
Instructions for Use:
1. Collect a fresh specimen of urine in a clean, well-rinsed dry container.
2. Take a test strip from the tube and close again immediately. Press the stopper on again firmly to make sure that the container is properly closed.
3. Briefly (no longer than 1 second) immerse the test strip in the urine.
4. When removing the strip, wipe the edge against the rim of the specimen container to remove excess urine.
5. Wait 1 minute and then read the ketone test area.
Colour changes which appear only along the edges of the test area or after more than 2 minutes are not diagnostically relevant. The test strip may also be held directly in the urine stream and the excess urine shaken off.
Use within 6 months of opening.
When on a Ketogenic Fat Loss System, you need to ensure you are not eating too many carbohydrate rich foods, so you should test your urine ketones twice a day (i.e. before breakfast and before the evening meal)
Ketone levels must be maintained between 'trace' and 'small' (0.5 - 1.5 mmol/l) If your ketone levels are greater than 4 (i.e., large) you may need to increase your carbohydrates slightly or reduce the amount of exercise you are doing.
If you are not producing Ketones, you are probably eating too much carbohydrate food or you may need to do more exercise. Consider lowering your total carbohydrate amount to no more than 30 grams per day. 1 medium banana provides around 27 grams of carbs.
Caution. If Ketone bodies reach levels above 4 mmol/l (i.e., high) you may not be eating enough. This can cause electrolyte imbalances and changes in pH (" ketoacidosis"). This can be damaging as it leads to muscle loss. Always drink lots of water and increase the carbohydrate until the Ketones are reduced to 0.5-1.5 mmol/l (i.e., trace to small or in the pink area)
Keep out of reach of children. For testing urinary Ketone levels only. Important: Read enclosed directions. Store at temperatures between +2C and +-30C and out of direct sunlight. Do not store in a refrigerator or in your bathroom. Use within 6 months after first opening. Do not remove desiccant from bottle. Replace cap immediately and tightly.
Re-attach the stopper immediately after removing a test strip. Test strips which have been spoilt by exposure to humidity can be recognised by a dark discoloration of the test area on the unused strip. Such test strips should no longer be used.
