Matakana Superfoods organic Matcha Tea powder is made from specially processed young, green tea leaves. Matcha contains less caffeine than coffee and is rich in antioxidants and the amino acid L-theanine (the total polyphenolic content found in matcha tea falls within the range of 169–273 mg GAE/g).
The Chinese methods of preparing powdered green tea were brought to Japan in 1191 by Zen Buddhist monk Eisai. Traditionally used in tea ceremony rituals, matcha tea now has many applications.
Importantly, matcha needs to be protected from oxidation to preserve its flavour and quality. Matakana Superfoods’ special oxygen-resistant, metalised foil pouches are designed to maintain maximum freshness and potency, ensuring you get the best grade of matcha tea possible. Matcha Tea has an ORAC value of 1384 μmol per gram.
