Prostate Health

The prostate is a small gland located at the base of the bladder and surrounding the urethra. Its major function is the production of seminal fluid which protects and nourishes the sperm cells and maintains sexual vigour, potency and virility. When the production of the prostate fluid diminishes, so does the males sexual desires, capability, vitality and drive.

Problems affecting the prostate affect about 55% of all males over the age of 40 and 95% of men over the age of 70. Symptoms caused by benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) result from the enlargement or inflammation of the gland, which puts pressure of the urethra causing obstruction of the urine flow, difficulty in urinating, frequent urination, painful or burning sensations while urinating, dribbling after urination and a feeling of pressure in the bladder.
