That question cannot be answered properly from the biggest front-label number. Read a B12 label in five passes: form, units, full daily serving, format and extras, then reason for use. Mcg and µg both mean micrograms. Compare the complete daily serving rather than one drop, spray or capsule. A larger number, methylcobalamin wording or mouth-delivery format does not automatically prove better absorption, better results or better fit. When possible deficiency is the real concern, blood testing and professional assessment matter more than choosing the largest retail dose.

Cyanocobalamin

Hydroxocobalamin

The Pure Vitality drops page lists methylcobalamin, 50 mcg per one-drop serving, plus water, glycerin, citric acid, stevia, cherry flavour and potassium sorbate. The under-the-tongue direction does not establish a proven absorption advantage.
BetterYou Boost B12 Daily Oral Spray
The BetterYou spray page lists methylcobalamin, 1,200 mcg per four-spray serving, chromium 40 mcg and green tea extract 0.5 mg, plus water, xylitol, flavour, citric acid and preservative. The 1,200 mcg applies to four sprays, not each spray. Its diabetes precaution relates to the added chromium, not to all B12 sprays.
Gold Health Vitamin B12 Activated
The Gold Health capsule page lists methylcobalamin 50 mcg, New Zealand kelp 100 mg and acacia fibre 300 mg per capsule. The B12 amount matches the drops example, but kelp creates an iodine and thyroid-awareness check.
Why standalone B12 labels can show large numbers
Standalone B12 products often contain more B12 than multivitamins. NIH reports that multivitamin and mineral products commonly contain lower amounts, while standalone B12 supplements often sit in the hundreds of micrograms.3
The proportion absorbed falls at higher oral doses. NIH gives examples of about 2 percent absorption from 500 mcg and about 1.3 percent from 1,000 mcg.3 This helps explain why high-strength labels exist, but it is not an absorbed-dose calculator and it does not identify the right amount for an individual. The highest number is not automatically the best choice, and suspected deficiency should not be self-treated by selecting the largest retail dose.

NIH reports similar efficacy for oral and sublingual B12 preparations.3 Format still matters for preference, measuring accuracy and routine consistency. It simply should not be used as a shortcut for claiming better absorption.
