Golden Fields Organic Chicory Sachets. Caffeine free beverage made from roasted organic chicory roots and roasted malted barley. Chicory is an attractive perennial in the garden with tall stalks of blue flowers over most of the summer. Goldenfields organic roasted chicory is made with a large rooted variety grown in New Zealand on certified organic farms. The roots are dug in autumn when they are sweetest, then washed, diced dried and then roasted. No chemicals or additives are used for storage or precessing. Part of the same family, Chicory is an excellent alternative to dandelion, especially at half the price. A wonderful alternative to coffee. Can be used in a plunger or percolator. Naturally caffeine-free, they make a full-bodied drink that can be taken anytime of the day, best 1 1/2 hours after a main meal, especially before resting. Chicory is a herb that is specific for the liver, gall bladder and spleen. It supports the liver, promotes the formation of bile and removes excess fluid from the body - which is usually accumulated when the liver is malfunctioning. This herb is also an excellent blood purifier for conditions such as acne, itchy and scaly rashes and eczema. Chicory has also been used as a drink to help in the elimination of gall stones and for the elimination of internal mucus. It is also used for gastritis, poor appetite (It won't increase your appetite if it is already ok) and digestive difficulties. Chicory is a plant from the same family as dandelion. DIRECTIONS: Use sachets like tea bags, infuse five minutes and stir. For best results, heat cup first, use boiling water and cover. Alternatively steep one or two sachets in a two-cup flask. Can also be steeped in warm milk or added to coffee.
We suggest: The first time you use this, you make a weak cup. This is because of chicory's powerful liver cleansing properties. So dunk the bag in only once or twice and then put it aside and save it for the next cup. When you drink this, you should not feel sluggish or get a headache. If you do, this shows that you made it too strong. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon in water and drink this. It may help to clear the feeling. This feeling shows that you made it too strong. The cleansing effect is happening too quickly. Do not have any more for that day and the following day, make it weaker. Each day increase the strength. Do not be put off by the initial weakness of the beverage. Very soon you will be able to handle a full flavoured drink. Yummy. Can also be put in a teapot. Alternatively it comes in granules, to use in a plunger.
