Why is MooGoo Milk Wash different from a regular body wash?
Most commercial body washes use SLS or SLES as their primary cleansing agent - the same ingredient found in floor cleaners and engine degreasers. While effective at removing dirt, it strips the skin's natural oils along with it, often leaving skin tight, dry, or irritated. MooGoo Milk Wash uses five natural coconut and glucose-derived surfactants instead, achieving an irritation score equivalent to water while still cleansing effectively. The difference is particularly noticeable on dry, sensitive, or condition-prone skin.
Is this suitable for use on the face?
Yes. The formula is gentle enough for daily facial use and is suitable for all skin types including dry, oily, sensitive, and combination. Because it is pH-balanced at 5.5 and free from harsh detergents, it supports rather than disrupts the skin's natural barrier - making it a good option as a face wash for those who find standard facial cleansers too stripping.
What does the same irritation score as water actually mean?
MooGoo tested Milk Wash against a standard irritation scale. The result showed it to be as non-irritating as water - the lowest possible irritation score a wash product can achieve. This reflects both the mildness of the cleansing system and the absence of common irritants like SLS, parabens, phenoxyethanol, and synthetic fragrances.
Is this suitable for babies and newborns?
Yes. Milk Wash is a no-tears formula and is suitable for use on newborns, including for bathing and washing the face and body. The same formula is recommended for use alongside MooGoo's baby range products.
Why does it have fragrance if it is made for sensitive skin?
MooGoo developed a proprietary fragrance system where every component is kept below the EU allergy threshold. This allows for a pleasant, subtle scent - a blend of Vanilla and Energy fragrant oils - without the risk of reactions associated with standard synthetic fragrances or essential oils. No phthalates are used, and neither Vanilla nor Energy fragrances contain common allergens or irritants.
How is this different from MooGoo's Ultra Gentle Ceramide Cleanser?
Both are extremely gentle, but they use different primary cleansing ingredients. The Ultra Gentle Ceramide Cleanser uses Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate as its primary cleanser - considered the single gentlest cleansing ingredient available - and also contains Ceramides for additional skin barrier support. Milk Wash uses Cocamidopropyl Betaine as its primary cleanser alongside the five-surfactant blend, and does not contain Ceramides. Both are suitable for sensitive skin; the Ultra Gentle Cleanser is the better choice for those with severely compromised or barrier-deficient skin.
