Nature's Sunshine Zinc is a trace mineral, important for a healthy immune system, reproductive functions and healthy tissues. Zinc is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger, and involved in hundreds of important functions in the body. It is a component of the hormone insulin (along with the mineral chromium), and male reproductive fluid. Zinc is involved in digestion, metabolism and energy production; and is essential to the functioning of more than 200 human enzymes, including those necessary to synthesise DNA and RNA. More zinc is found in the body than any other trace mineral, except for iron. Relatively large amounts are found in bone and muscle. It's also prevalent in the prostate gland and retina.

More Information

Zinc provides 25 mg of zinc from zinc gluconate, with small amounts of calcium and phosphorus plus a supporting herbal blend of kelp, thyme and alfalfa. Zinc is the main nutrient here and is commonly used for immune support, skin health, wound healing and reproductive health.

The added herbs are not the main reason to choose the product, but they do give it a slightly broader feel than a plain zinc tablet. Kelp contributes trace minerals, while thyme and alfalfa are traditional nutrient-rich herbs. If zinc is the ingredient you are looking for, the product keeps that purpose clear.
